Whether you are, or claim to be, of Irish lineage, or not, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
The holiday commemorates Saint Patrick as well as the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It also celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish people who had a significant influence in the history of America. Originally blue was the color associated with St. Patrick but evolved to green by the late 1700’s in Ireland. The 3 leaved shamrock was used to help describe the Holy Trinity in Christianity and has since been associated with the holiday. Although not an official holiday in the United States, it is a well known day of celebration.
Celebrate by wearing some green and enjoying the day.
